Castle Of Frankenstein With Neal Adams Edgar Burroughs Lon Chaney Boris Karloff Christopher Lee Bela Lugosi Vincent Price & Berni Wrightson
Page 54 featured this ad page, which had a lot of the same kind of stuff you could find advertised in comics and Warren magazines.
Page 55's full-page ad was devoted to reprints of classic comic strips!
Page 56 was more Frankenstein Mini-Reviews! They covered "The Andromeda Strain" (seems they more or less liked it), "They Might Be Giants" ("Interesting, offbeat film"), "The Barefoot Executive" ("Trenchant satire"), "Mrs. Pollifax" ("typical spy and comedy chase mystery"), "The Hellstrom Chronicle" ("Hoary SF cliche... give new life"), "The Other Man" ("Outstanding performance by Joan Hackett"), "Vanishing Point" (they seem to like it), "The Night Visitor" ("excellent suspense film"), "War Between THe Planets" ("Visually attractive"), "The WIld Child" ("effective"), "No Blade of Grass" ("potent stuff"), "El Topo" ("A masterpiece!" "...destined to become a cinema masterpiece"), "A Quiet Place in the Country" ("excellent"), "Walkabout" ("Max Raab's best film to date") and "Escape From the Planet of the Apes" ("could easily have become a comedy, but all may rejoice").
Page 57 features lots of great memorabilia items for old movie fans -- that is, fans of old movies!
Page 58 features ore "Headitorial", finishing up the weird film premise, then going on to TV stuff, talking about "The Night Stalker," "Earth II," "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun," "The Man Who Haunted Himself"...
...and continues on page 59, with talk about "Lust for a Vampire," "Scars of Dracula," and "Horror of Frankenstein."
Page 60 lists a whole mess of great fanzines... the only bad thing about reading these old mags is seeing this stuff listed, and knowing I can't send off for these things, like Comic Crusader, Witzend, Graphic Story Magazine, Flashback, and other great stuff!
Page 61's ad is divided between 8mm movies and some rarities -- like Humbug #1 for $25, Mad #1 for $20, and other stuff!
Page 62 starts some more coverage of movies, without an overall title. Reviewed on this and page 63 are "Black Torment" ("average"), "Tarzan and the Valley of Gold" ("James Bond in the Jungle"), "Invasion" ("pretty much a failure as a genre exercise"), and "Frankenstein Conquers the World" ("one of the worst").
I don't know why the stuff from Tangent is on the page, except that the artwork was done by Neal Adams.
Pages 64 through 66 are back issue ads!
This tinted still from "The Phantom of the Opera" is featured on the inside back cover!
And the outside back cover features this still from "Dr. Phibes Rises Again"!
