Famous Monsters Of Filmland With Forrest Ackerman Peter Cushing Christopher Lee Peter Lorre & Vincent Price
In case you can't read the text (or don't want to click it to see if you have larger viewing options), the movies chosen are "the Phantom of the Opera" with Lon Chaney, "Frankenstein," "Dracula," "Dead of Night," and "King Kong"!
So that's Forry's selection (at least, at the time). Myself, I'd probably toss out "Dead of Night" (which, admittedly, I've never seen) and put in "Bride of Frankenstein," even if that meant two of Universal's Frankenstein saga installments were on the list!
Page 36 begins "Rare Treats!", a feature in which readers could enjoy rare photos from Forry's collection! This page has a behind-the-scenes photo from Young Frankenstein!
Most of you should recognize this as a still from "The Man Who Laughs," which at least inspired the look of the Joker!
This page features phots from "Hangover Square" (I think, it's not specified), The Mask of Dijon, and one of Hammer's Dracula movies... maybe Scars of Dracula, based on the caption!
Page 39 features photos of Lon Chaney Sr, Chris Lee, Peter Lorre (from "M"), and Boris Karloff (from the TV movie Rasputin)!
Page 40 starts coverage of an event from the relatively then-recent FM convention, where one of the mag's readers did some demonstrations of make-up!
Pretty cool stuff, even if the forehead of that Frankenstein Monster make-up looks way too high!
And page 46 begins part 2 of a feature on Peter Cushing!
