As you can see, like the previous article on Jekyll and Hyde through the years, this article on Heroes of the Horrors uses two pages of photos to lead off Ron Weiss' article. I have to imagine this was done to help pad out the issue to 100 pages. Pictured are Lon Chaney Sr. as the Phantom of the Opera, Lon Chaney Jr. as the Mummy, Boris Karloff as the Frankenstein Monster, Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Peter Lorre and Vincent Price (I can't identify for certain the roles they're playing in these shots).

The Article itself is an interview with Calvin Beck, author of the book "Heroes of the Horrors," and before the article itself starts, you are treated to shots of Lon Chaney Sr. showing how he could change his face with virtually no makeup!

In the interview, Beck tells how he happened to write the book, how he selected the six actors presented in it, and he answers a few questions about Chaney Sr.

This is followed up with a question about Lugosi almost not being cast as Dracula, how Karloff got into acting, and how Karloff was cast as the Frankenstein Monster.

Next up is a question about Karloff's durability as an actor compared to Lugosi, and a few questions about Chaney Jr.

The Chaney, Jr. answers continue on page 19, as you can see.

On page 20, there's a question about the Vincent Price/Roger Corman Edgar Allan Poe movies, and if Beck would write another book about other horror stars.

Pages 22 and 23 are a bit more padding!

Oddly enough, the article ended on page 20 in mid-sentence, and isn't concluded anywhere in the magazine!
